Bishop Gregorio Aglipay

-Born on May 5, 1860 in Batac, Ilocos Norte.
-Died on September 1, 1940.
-Made a Mason on May 3, 1918 in Lodge Magdalo in   Cavite, now Emilio Aguinaldo Memorial Lodge No. 31.
-Jailed in early childhood with his uncle for failure to   produce the required tobacco for the government   monopoly, he hated colonial tyranny from early   youth.
-Bachelor of Arts, San Juan de Letran.
-Upon the advice of Rizal, he discarded his law study in the University of Sto. Tomas and entered the Seminary   in Vigan. Ordained Catholic Priest in 1890.
-Excommunicates as a Catholic priest on May 4, 1899 by Archbishop Nozaleda for joining Aguinaldo’s   libertarian movement.
-Apointed Military Vicar by Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo with special duty to win adherents among the Ilocanos.
-Member of the Malolos Congress and signer of the Malolos Constitution.
-After the close of the Filipino-American War, Isabelo delos Reyes founded the Philippine Independent Church,   and designated Aglipay as Obispo Maximo.
-A revolutionary priest-soldier, he is one of the Filipino patriots of the first rank.
